MIDNIGHT CULT第３弾リリースは、Juke/Footworkシーンを中心に東京の地下で、カルト的な活動を続け好評を博している吉村元年によるリリース。80年代シカゴ、様々な夜を経て進化を続けたハウスミュージックを想起させる快作(怪作?)。ファンキーでスモーキーな夜の怪しさを纏った本作で元年は、現代日本に欠如している"愛と平和”をコンセプトに独自の視点からメッセージを投げかける。
また、今回アートワークは吉村と親交の深いSIMI LABのMA1LLが担当。独自の世界観を演出している。

吉村元年
2009年より音楽活動をスタート。趣味の域を超えることなく遊んでいたところ、2013年にJuke/Footworkのレーベル〈Shinkaron〉から『YOSHIMURA GUNGNEN』をリリース。
2016年より加藤ジャクソンと共に新プロジェクト〈KUSH VAN CHOZETSU〉を始動、同時に『ザラついた月曜』、『やったあ』など独特なテイストのイベントを主催するなど精力的に活動の幅を広げている。
Yoshimura Gungnen started off his musical career in 2009, when Fruity, owner Japanese Juke/Footwork label SHINKARON, offered Yoshimura to join his label along with Weezy.
Yoshimura's debut album in 2013 was a collection of high energy, and out of the ordinary Juke/Footwork tracks (the album can be reached from the bandcamp link above).
In 2016, Yoshimura started his brand new project "KUSH VAN CHOZETSU" with his partner Kato Jackson. Yoshimura has also been busy promoting his new parties "Zaratsuita Getsuyoubi" and "Yatta".

Weezy
The Era Footwork Crew, SHINKARON, KATA FOOTWORK CLUB所属。 フットワークダンサー、DJ、トラックメーカーとして活躍するマルチアーティスト。 これまでに所属レーベルSHINKARONや自身のbandcampにて作品を複数発表。
少年期から様々なスタイルのダンスに挑戦していた彼が本格的にジューク/フットワークの世界に足を踏み入れたのは2011年。当時まだ小さかった国内ジューク／フットワークシーンに巡り会い、以後ダンスとトラックメイクに没頭。その才能を遺憾なく発揮する。
ジューク／フットワークの本場：シカゴのシーンとも積極的に繋がりを持ち、シーンを代表するアーティストTRAXMAN、RP Boo、DJ Rashad、DJ Spinnの来日公演ではダンサーとしてツアーに帯同。 ちなみにWeezyという名前はTRAXMANによって命名された。 2014年シカゴに渡り、フットワークダンスバトルの聖地バトルグラウンズに参戦。その実力で現地の人間の度肝を抜き、今最も勢いのあるフットワークチームThe Era Footwork Crewにスカウト、唯一の日本人メンバーとなる。 同年冬にはThe Era Footwork CrewのメンバーLiteBulb招致し、DJ Spinnらと日本ツアーを開催。
2016年にはヨーロッパ４カ国を渡る単独ツアーを敢行。 DJとフットワークワークショップで各地のオーディエンスに日本のフットワークシーンのポテンシャルを見せつけた。 UKクラブミュージック界を代表するラジオRinse FMHyperDub番組内において、日本を代表するジュークトラックとしてWeezyの楽曲をKode9がプレイする等、国内はもとより、世界からも注目を浴びるアーティストである。
ダンスと音楽を武器に進化を続けるWeezyはジューク／フットワークのカルチャー、そしてライフスタイルを体現する貴重な存在である。
Ryoya Okamoto a.k.a. Weezy is from Yokohama, Japan, and is a member of The Era Footwork Crew, SHINKARON, and KATA FOOTWORK CLUB. He has been a prominent figure since the early days of the Japanese Juke/Footwork scene as a footworker, producer, and a DJ. So far he has released several EPs and albums from label SHINKARON, and his own bandcamp.
Weezy started his dancing career as a teenager, practicing various dance styles. But his life changing discovery of Juke and Footwork (both music and dance styles) was in 2011. Ever since, his passion lies in footworking and producing Juke/Footwork tracks.
He has been proactively connecting with the Chicago scene, and toured Japan along with top Juke/Footwork DJs TRAXMAN, RP Boo, DJ Rashad, and DJ Spinn. His alias Weezy was given by TRAXMAN during one of the tours.
In 2014, Weezy flew to Chicago and made his first appearance at the Battle Groundz, where top footworkers gather and battle. His skills surprised the Chicago locals, and Weezy was offered to join The Era Footwork Crew, one of the top footwork dance crews in the world, as the first Japanese member.
In the winter of 2014, Weezy invited The Era Footwork Club member LiteBulb, along with leading Juke DJ/Producer DJ Spinn and toured Japan. In 2016, Weezy went on his first European tour, performing as a footworker and DJ in 4 countries. He blew the audience’s minds with the force, energy, and potential of Japanese Juke/Footwork.
Weezy's talent as a producer is also beyond the norm. His tracks has been played by the owner of internationally known label Hyperdub, and UK bass music don Kode9 as a representative Japanese Juke/Footwork track. He is one of the few Japanese producers the world keeps an eye on.
With music and dance as his weapon, Weezy shows no signs of slowing down.

MIDNIGHT CULT 第１弾リリースはシカゴジューク／フットワークのゴッドファーザー、TRAXMANの楽曲と、それらのトラックを海外メディアでも特集を組まれるなど勢いを見せる日本のジューク／フットワークアーティスト達によるリミックスの計２１曲を収録。
リミックスには食品まつり a.k.a. FOODMAN、Paisley Parks、Satanicpornocultshop、Boogie Mann、CRZKNY、NATURE DANGER GANG、guchon、HAZY&RHYDA、Weezy&Teddman、Sekis & Dike、AlchinBond、ITLが名を連ねる。
MIDNIGHT CULT's first release features TRAXMAN, the living legend of Chicago Juke/Footwork music, and Japanese Juke/Footwork artists. The 21 track album includes 10 original tracks by TRAXMAN and 11 remixes by Japanese Juke artists.
Through his past tours in Japan, TRAXMAN has influenced the Japanese Juke scene heavily, and has built a strong bond with the rapidly growing scene.
With its unique interpretation of the style, the Japanese Juke scene has been gaining global attention. Featured on various internationally accalimed media such as VICE, Rolling Stone, and The FADER to name a few, Japanese Juke is definitely one of Japan's fastest growing scene.
For this project, TRAXMAN has provided 10 original tracks, mostly previously unreleased, and MIDNIGHT CULT has gatherd the best of Japanese Juke artists to remix them. Remixes include works by 食品まつり a.k.a. FOODMAN、Paisley Parks、Satanicpornocultshop、Boogie Mann、CRZKNY、NATURE DANGER GANG、guchon、HAZY&RHYDA、Weezy&Teddman、Sekis & Dike、AlchinBond, and ITL.

TRAXMAN
シカゴ・ハウスを代表し、Juke/Footworkのオリジネイターとして知られるアーティスト。80年代のシカゴ・ハウス、90年代のゲットー・ハウス、2000年代のジュークと、"ゲットー"をコンセプトにキャリアを重ねる。コーネリアス・ファーグソン、ハウス名義ではコーキー・ストロングとも。96年にEP「ウェストサイド・ブギー・ヴォリューム1」でデビュー以来、数々のジューク・クラシックスを生み出し、ジューク/フットワークを世界的に知らしめることに成功。また、シカゴの先鋭クルー"Teklife"の一員としても活動。ファンクやソウルに根ざしたオーソドックスかつエキセントリックなスタイルでリスペクトされている。
DISK UNIONではCD購入特典としてアルバム収録音源をTRAXMANがミックスしたMIX CDRが付属。また、特製Tシャツ付きのセットも同時発売される。
